JOB OVERVIEW: 

Fujikura Composites America is looking for an innovative, team-oriented, pro-active, organized individual with experience in the design, testing, and high-volume manufacturing of sporting goods constructed of carbon fiber reinforced plastics.  Under supervision, the candidate will work as part of a design team but be solely responsible for overseeing all development products through the production phase.  This includes creating and managing production documentation, issuing pilot runs and interpreting results, and green-lighting approvals to proceed with production.  This person will oversee our prototype area and manage a team of technicians who are responsible for building prototype parts and maintaining fabrication equipment.  Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.  This person will work closely with R&D, marketing, sales, and global manufacturing partners in a collaborative environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design golf shafts using internal, proprietary software
  • Act as a technical lead on non-golf composite product design and processing
  • Oversee and manage our prototype area and build technicians
  • Conduct design of experiment studies as part of a continuous improvement program to improve part quality and production efficiency.
  • Act as the technical lead on transitioning development products into volume production, interfacing directly with our manufacturing partners
  • Responsible for creating, releasing, and tracking product specifications, production documentation, and limit samples
  • Release pilot runs, interpret results, resolve technical problems, and authorize production release
  • Assure measurement calibration between Fujikura and our manufacturing partners
  • Drive corrective action with manufacturing partners based on feedback from incoming inspection
  • Conduct a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve product line
  • Characterize new materials
  • Design and fabricate new shaft characterization equipment as necessary
  • Ideation of new products and technologies
  • Supervise Engineering Technicians 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BS degree in engineering (mechanical or structural) plus a minimum of two years of experience in design and manufacturing with composite materials or an applicable Master’s degree
  • Experience with diverse composites manufacturing processes and construction methods
  • Solid knowledge and experience utilizing engineering fundamentals and testing methods
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Possess strong leadership and ownership characteristics with commitment to achieve results on time
  • Potential to develop into a technical leader in the organization
  • Can learn and apply new information or skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Valid passport required

  • Automation skills a plus
  • Analytics and Data visualization skills a plus
